Find a host family is a key to start your cultural adventure, and it seems hard for a lot of you to find the right one, so today I’m gonna give you bits of advice about how to find the family? and more and likely which kind of family?
To start searching you have two options: contact an agency which may charge you some fees or create an account on au pair websites and it’s the free option.
In my case, I went with the free option and that’s how it works:
Introduce yourself by answering these questions:
Name, age, and country first for sure!
What for a diploma do you have?
Which experience do you have with kids?
What do you like to do in your free time?
Put photos of you:
It’s not a dating website! so better put the photos with kids from the family or neighborhood ( better hide the kid’s face).
Start contacting the families:
Once your account is ready, you can start sending automatic messages to the families you like.
Log in to your account at least twice a day, and look if there is any new family, this way your account will show up at first when the family critics match yours.
How you gonna choose the family? Make sure that the family has no more than 2 kids, more than 2 they need a babysitter, not an au pair.
Better to pay attention to the kid’s age, and that both parents are together either you will have much responsibility than you should.
Don’t accept any offer of more money for more work hours, or tasks that not belong to your statue as au pair, it’s a way to be used as a housemaid.
Leave your question and comments to write to you more.
